Xbox 360 or PS3 for different type of gamer?
So I have decided to put down the money and get either the Xbox 360 (299 version+wireless internet adapter which will have to buy) or a PS3 (399 version). So comes the old question that I’d say is asked hourly here, which system should I buy? But Wait! I’m bit different than others
Honestly games like Gears of Wars, Halo, aren’t my cup of tea. I like games like puzzle quest, animal crossing, harvest moon, rune factory, role playing games (Think final fantasy series here), simulations like Sim City, strategy like Civilization 4, and a bit of both with Pirates!
Seems like WII would be a great system for me, and truthfully it is. Until I bought Mario Kart, and that changed everything (Well made me want to venture to another aspect of consoles I should say)… I really found myself enjoying playing online against other players on Mario Kart. I been huge MMORPG player for years and really did like competitiveness of it all. I paid 40 dollars for Tetris DS, and Tetris Party for sake of playing against others via wi-fi. I did great on Tetris DS and hit around 8500/9999 on Mario kart. Opened up every single thing in game that it had to offer. But…
THEN I started hitting the hackers as my scores got high. So read up, found out how easy it is to hack the WII/DS online games, that I have now quit all three games online. Just takes complete fun of it for me knowing that they are there and nothing is being done. If something was being done, wouldn’t be such a problem.
So I thought get a Xbox 360 or PS3! Basically I want to pick off where I left off but not really sure what system to go with. Online play will be a huge biggie, and achievement system a small biggie. I’m really not sure at all which system has types of games I like for none online play games. Other than Xbox 360 has Viva Pinata haha. Blue Ray, Netflix, are meaningless to me truthfully.
Basically this is what I have gathered correct me if im wrong.
1. Xbox has better online play, how I am not certain (Truthfully I don’t know why people say this, so asking heh). I do hear sony is "Catching up". I am a noob to the how and why on this.
2. Have to pay for two Xbox Live accounts per month since wife will want her own gamertag. So going PS3 saves 16 a month or 120 dollars in a year. Do you get what you pay for compared to what you can get for free?
3. Xbox has better Achievement system set up but sony is doing better their "Trophy" set up.
4. I like PS3 controller better
5. More games on Xbox 360
6. More games downloadable on Xbox 360 (Unless they make a bunch of PS1 titles available?)
7. More exclusive games that I would like on PS3
8. Future of PS3 in question all together
9. Sounds lame but "Home" seems kinda cool. Having your own room, 2nd life bit, etc etc.
10. Going to have a PSP, I guess there maybe some type of compatibility between game downloads?
So these are the pros and cons in my head heh. If im wrong about one feel free to let me know. That is all info I think I can write out! Let me know what you think I should get!
Home is becoming so exellent with all the game launching, it seems like you know quite a bit about ps3. The games are very innovative and their is a awesome ps3 game for every genre just take Little Big Planet Killzone 2 MSG4 Uncharted Drakes Fortune and Ratchet & Clank Future
Omg the ps3 is just full of epicness
This tuesday u could also pickup the best super hero game ever made in inFamous the game is incredible
im not being sarcastic its just amazing how hated the ps3 is for no reason
You want the ps3 more Quantity much more than quantity
MLB 09 The Show anything more be said?
inFamous?
God Of War 3?
Killzone 2?
MSG4?
Uncharted?
and trophys are much better than achivements because for some trophys u get free clothes and stuff for home like for street fighter 4 u get free RYU Ken and Chungli outfits that rock
Plus PS3 has wifi blu ray which not only plays movies but helps make the games bigger and more polished because of the storage capabilitys
PS3 has bluetooth wifi G rechargeable remotes no batteries FTW its just great man buy it i sold my 360 because i don’t like halo and gears because they are so over rated

I have the ps3 two of them as a matter of fact and I prefer the controller of the ps3 myself and some of the playstation 3 exclusives are looking better and better. X-box has a better online setup but as you say the ps3 is catching up and if you are like me I may play a game for hours on end and the x-box has a rep for running hot an the red ring of death. There are some games I would like to play on x-box but not enough to make me buy one. The ps3 is catching up big time this year especially in the games. The grafix are hot and they have blu-ray. I informed my friend that I had bout one of the top of the line hi-def televisions and hooked up the HDMI cable you will be amazed at the diference in the picture quality once you watch it a couple of times you won’t want to watch a regular tv again. Also the game play is much smoother on the HDMI cable. But I prefer ps3.

I am a life long fan of Sony products and the PS1/PS2. The games I play are about the same as yours. I waited a long time to decide which system to get because I wanted the PS3 to succeed. The problem is that for RPG/Strategy games the XBox has more selection and from the looks of the game schedule from playstation.com and xbox.com this will continue to be true. Now to answer your questions…
1) I am not sure how xbox is better. I do know that it is very simple and easy. The one big difference that people seem to mention a lot is that voice chat is on X-Box and I don’t believe it is for PS3.
2) Most online games seem to be released for both systems. So if you have decided that the games you want to play are on both systems then get the PS3.
3) The real question should be about games and ones that are likely to remain exclusive. For role playing games you should consider these exclusives that are on xbox:
Fable I
Fable II
Infinite Undiscovery
Lost Odyssy
Blue Dragon
Star Ocean
4) Some of the downloaded content can be fun and interesting that is unique to the XBOX 360. So look into that as well.
My suggestion is really to decide based on games since this is what you are likely to spend 90%+ of your time with the game system. The exception would be people who use it for Netflix and Media Extenders (who should then get the XBOX 360 for sure).
